Khazanah Residency Programme

The Khazanah Residency Programme, in essence, is meant to support the development of human, social and knowledge capital for the country. It is also a platform by which Khazanah uses to forge ties and build relationships among a selected group of stakeholders. Introduced in 2013, to date, a total of 34 Malaysian talents have benefitted from the programme that is funded by Yayasan Khazanah.

The programme is meant to develop mid-career or emerging Malaysian talents in various disciplines, namely media, arts, design and public service, by exposing them to learnig experiences and latest practices from around the world, in their respective fields. Currently, the four main programmes under the Khazanah Residency Programme are:

  1. Wolfson Press Fellowship by Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, UK (since 2013)
  2. Khazanah Nasional Associate Artist Residency Programme by ACME Studios, London, UK (since 2017)
  3. International Summer School Open City programme by Politecnico di Milano, Italy (since 2018)
  4. Executive Fellows Programme by Australia & New Zealand School of Government, conducted in New Zealand, Australia and Singapore (since 2018)

Khazanah also partners several local and foreign parties, including government agencies and private firms, in delivering the post-residency portion of the programme, whereby participants are required to deliver specific action learning projects including designing of public spaces, art exhibitions, and policy-related projects. Some of the partners that Khazanah work with in delivering the post-residency portion are Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), Razak School of Government, and Khazanah-linked companies.

In addition, as part of their ‘give-back’, Residency alumni are required to pay it forward in various forms to benefit the fraternities and Malaysians at large. Khazanah facilitates various forms of sharing sessions on topics related to the alumni member’s vocation, e.g. talks, seminars, exhibitions, articles and programmes. They are also involved in various community-based projects linked to Khazanah and Yayasan Hasanah, e.g. Hari Hasanah initiatives.
